Alex Midler's Roll-A-Thon

Last Sunday on October 20th, Alex Midler held his third Annual 'Roll-A-Thon' to benefit the 'Johnny Kicks Cancer Foundation'. The mission of 'Johnny Kicks Cancer' is to cure childhood leukemia through awareness and funding for cutting-edge research, as well as to empower and encourage patients, families and doctors in their fight against the number one childhood cancer.  We had raffles for $1,000 shopping sprees at Volcom and Deluxe, as well as a paid trip to Camp Woodward. There was also food from Wahoo's,  ice cream from Ian's Ice Cream and a silent auction for a bunch of awesome gift packs from various companies who were generous enough to donate product for the event! Check out the photos below to see what went down!

We started to meet up at the Volcom headquarters around noon, kids were allowed to skate our private skatepark as long as they signed a waiver.

Huge thanks to the ladies at the front table who were selling raffle, food, and ice cream tickets all day!

Let's Roll!!

DSC02757

We started our roll from the headquarters here in Costa Mesa and rolled down to the Huntington Beach Pier, about 11.6 miles round trip!

DSC02770

The route included a nice hill bomb before we had brief trek through the woods to get to the bike path along the Santa Ana River that would bring us down to the Huntington Beach boardwalk.

DSC02773

Some decided to run through the dirt path... maybe they were just trying to catch up with Busenitz

There were a bunch of great items at the silent auction and towards the end bidding wars began to start. It was all in good fun though and everyone was pretty happy at the end of it all!

elooa GIRLS CAMP BALANCE – Successful start for the girls!
Last weekend 20 motivated girls came to the Kitzsteinhorn for the elooa GIRLS BALANCE CAMP presented by VOLCOM. Also present were next to the elooa crew, a yoga teacher, a professional photographer as well as a filmmaker and the pro riders Mary Luggen & Ana Rumiha. After check-in the camp started with a yoga session into the weekend. Super motivated and well equipped with new Nitro Snowboards everbody went to the glacier on Saturday. After an extensive warm up and a few runs through the resort the girls practiced freestyle basics first before a perfectly shaped snowpark was waiting. Together with the coaches and the pro girls everybody practiced intensively all day and learned new tricks. In the afternoon we went back to our hotel, the Active by Leitner ́s 4* hotel that had all lot to offer: holiday galore! After coffee and cake a one hour yoga session with Anna Kathalina followed and before dinner everyone could recover in the spa area. After a very delicious and healthy dinner the day ended with an intense video coaching for all participants. On the final Sunday all campers went back to the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn to implement the new tips of the pros and elooa coaches directly. The weather was still kind of inconsistant but we had sunshine all day. After numerous runs and a lot of new tricks in the bag an eventful weekend came to an end. The elooa crew would like to thank all participants, the sponsors, the hotel Active by Leitner ́s and the Kitzsteinhorn for an amazing camp. We are looking forward to more elooa GIRLS CAMPS in 2017. We still have a couple of spots for our GIRLS SPLITBOARD and GIRLS BACKCOUNTRY FREERIDE CAMP available. Find more infos on www.elooa.com

The weather forecasts are firing, your crew is blowing you up, and the weekend shred getaway is dialed in! Now the serious question: what are you going to pack?! Some of the biggest things that can make or break that perfect day of shredding is how you prepare for the conditions and a little knowledge into what to expect. As we all know, you aren’t going to last long nuking pow day showing up to the chairlift in just a hoodie, or getting stuck sweating it out in that heavy down jacket during warm spring conditions. Making good outerwear decisions is crucial! So, to help you out, we had a few of the Volcom Snow team riders breakdown their favorite gear to wear during their hometown weekend shred sessions! "If you were to take a trip to Les 2 Alpes in December, you know you could encounter some of the coldest days of the winter and hopefully big snow falls. The bottom of the resort is at 1600 meters and rises up to 3200 meters where some of the best off-post runs are already in good conditions. To make sure I spend a long day out, I usually pick a combo of Gore-Tex Overall and Jacket. Also, the best option if you want to go straight from the snow to the après ski is dry underwear!" - Arthur Longo Shop Arthur's Winter Weekend Essentials Stone GORE-TEX® Jacket Rain GORE-TEX® Overall Base Layer Crew Base Layer Pant SFD Powder Mitt Sweep Lined Beanie More Winter Weekend Essentials Scott Blum Bryan Iguchi Pat Moore Arthur Longo Elena Hight Marcus Kleveland Shop All Snow Outerwear

# VolcomRepublique Celebration!
Last Saturday our boys Axel Cruysberghs and Victor Pellegrin cruised to Place de La Republique in Paris with a good portion of the scene, from the local kids to national heavy hitters such as Charles Collet, Joseph Garbaccio, Ben Garcia and more. The purpose was to celebrate the return of the Volcom granite skate setup in the heart of the French capital. The sun was shining - a perfect to start the afternoon which led to a fun and busy skate session in between the regular Republique weekend folks such as activists demonstrating about Cote–D’Ivoire new government (with a solid PA blasting african rhythms) or the "Nuit Debout" activists... A bunch of tricks got landed, high fives exchanged, and some giveaways were flown to the kids, and it was time to move to the Fluctuat Nec Mergitur cafe, right in the middle of the plaza for some after session beers, music and to announce the results of #VolcomRepublique best line skate contest. Tons of prizes got awarded to some of the many entrants and top 3 got to split the 1500€ prize purse of the contest. The judge panel consisting of David ‘Tura’ Turakiewicz (A Propos Magazine), Fred ‘D’ Demard (Soma skate medicine) and Christian Vankelst (Volcom Team manager) had a tough job picking the winners and in the end Joseph Garbaccio from Le Havre took the win (and the biggest check). The Volcom gang was beyond ready for the snow season to start. Gang Partnering with long time friends Go-Shred, they started with Hintertux on October 1st, following with Kaunertal on October 8, Kitzsteinhorn on the next day then finishing up with Stubai on October 22, setting up on the parking lots with games, music and free BBQs with refreshments after each session to extend the the stoke of the first rides. We met Gigi in STUBAI Hintertux was sunny and felt so good with mellow vibes, Kaunertal was maniac with tons of shredders from all over Europe, and a miniramp was added to the parking lot setup. It was madness in the park, with almost as many riders hiking the park as there were on the T-bar. You can now ride mor than 1200 vertical meters.. Check Kitzsteinhorn.at for live updates Stubai Then the tour finished with the Stubai Glacier opening with a good session on the Friday, and Saturday afternoon we set up at the bottom of the new multi million € Gondola and prepared everything for the smiling guests. Volcom Zip Tech® Jacket-to-Pant System Keeps Snow Out
It's no secret, being cold and wet is the easiest way to ruin a good day on the hill. And let's face it, everyone falls down, slides out, sits on a icy/wet chairlift and so on. It is snowboarding after all, and snow is going to try to find a way up your jacket and down your pants, soaking your base layers making it difficult to regulate your body temperature and in general cause you discomfort. Which is why over a decade ago the design team at Volcom developed the innovative Zip Tech® "zip your jacket to your pants" system for Volcom Outerwear as the first line of defense in keeping your body dry and your stoke high.
