Painting done in the party hour!
An early morning start last Thursday, the day of the Volcom Barcelona Store party was the beginning of a big day! The mural Gemma had begun needed to be almost finished by the time guests were due to arrive at 7pm. The remainder was to be painted live in front of the party before the band played.
Its a tricky thing to make sure there is enough left to paint so everyone gets to see the magic happen but not so much that it doesn’t get done in time for folks to see and to get photos of the final piece on the night.
After weighing up the timing Gemma decides to paint all of the highest points of the artwork so balancing on a ladder in a crowd of party people won’t be too stressful! She also goes over any parts that are not totally opaque or that have dried a little shakey. Perfecting her work as she goes.
Gemma gets to a good point she is comfortable leaving for the party, goes home to change and chill for a while before the fun starts!
The party gets cranking around 8pm, mini burgers are scoffed, beers steadily swilled and eyes are glued to Gemma’s final moments of painting. Its really the coolest thing to see an artwork like this finished live in front of a party crew. The vibe is truly bubbling when Gemma paints the final stroke.
The who’s who of Barcelona’s cool set, industry folk and media all enjoyed a night of live painting and live music – all helping to celebrate a truly Volcom moment in Barcelona. True To this, always.
Thanks to Lamono Magazine force hosting our event! Lets party again for sure!
