Spitfire X Volcom Launch Party at the Vert Jungle

In celebration of the new Spitfire X Volcom collection we went out to our friend Rob Beaudoin's "Vert Jungle" in Pismo Beach, CA for a sesh on the ramp, BBQ with the bros and bands to keep the party going. We met up with our friends from Spitfire Wheels and Thrasher Magazine on a Friday and planned on camping on our friend Rob's property Friday and Saturday night. Day of the party the kids and vets got to the ramp early before most even woke up, but as soon as everyone made it out of their tents and to the ramp, it was on. Bad Shit and Ratt Black came out to play, but it was a little too loud for the neighbors. Everyone skated the ramp all day and the pig was roasted on the vert ramp. After the sesh most hung around, partied and camped before we headed out on Sunday. Check out some photos below from Joe Brook, Daniel Cabral and Chris Martinez and watch the recap video from Schmitty and P-Stone from Thrasher. You can also see more photos over on the Thrasher site. Big thanks to Rob and crew for making it all happen!

Attunga world premier, P1 Munich, Sunday the 28th of January
Last Sunday on the first night of ISPO, Attunga was shown to the general public for the first time. We teamed up with longtime friends, media partner, and snowboard magazine extraordinary - Pleasure, because when it comes to throwing parties in Munich, nobody does it better. By the times doors opened at the P1 club, the line to get in was over a hundred meters long. Come 11 o’clock, Terje Haakonsen introduced the movie to the overenthusiastic spastic snowboard crowd. At 12:30, the boy wonder, aka the not so petit prince with his magic fingers and slightly less magic amplifier came on stage and introduced his band LEOPARD Ale. Within seconds, yours truly was violently pushed into the back corners of the venue by a lynch mob of, hmmm… let’s just call them female fans (we do live in #metoo times after all). It was close to Beatles mania all over again. After LEOPARD Ale’s historical gig, Nasty Mondays took over, and it was around this time our beloved Seth Huot (Attunga movie director) was kicked out for letting off too much steam. Not an easy task to accomplish, kudos Seth. The rest is as they say, staying on tour. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Thank you to everyone that came out, Chris Heubl and Pleasure Magazine, Martin Herrmann for photos, and Jeff and Seth for coming all the way from the US. Attunga "A Higher Place"
ATTUNGA is the unfiltered saga of three Norwegian snowboarders: Terje Haakonsen, Torgeir Bergrem and Marcus Kleveland, pulling back the curtain and examining their purpose, potential, pitfalls and paychecks. Filmmaker and snowboarder Seth Huot exquisitely documents an intimate portrait of legendary purist Terje (44), holistic-minded Torgeir (26) and carefree wunderkind Marcus (18), who together realize a common higher place.

Artist Mike Parillo on Visiting Hawaii and Deciding to Never Come Home
Finding salvation in surfing, Mike Parillo escaped to the North Shore of Hawaii and never came home. Parillo's early passion for the mountains and snowboarding has led him around the world. A Volcom contributor since '91, dating back to the formative tribal years of the Stone, Parillo grew up in Los Angeles in the 80s at the apex of the exploding skate, surf, snowboard and youth culture movement. These influences were profound and put him squarely on the path he walks today as one of a respected and leading artistic visionary in the action sports industry with over two decades of credible work to his name. Mike Parillo painting the Volcom Pipe Pro mural on the porch of the Volcom Pipe House An icon in the snowboarding universe and the artist behind the artwork for Volcom's 1994 snowboard film, The Garden, Parillo's early passion in the mountains recently turned to the beaches in Hawaii where he fell in love with surfing. Having traveled the globe following his passion for snowboarding and art, then finally settling in Los Angeles, he decided to leave everything behind for a new life in Hawaii. Having made his home near the Volcom Pipe House on the North Shore, Parillo expresses that the rewards for chasing his passions far outweigh any of the downfalls or sacrifices he has made. Nowadays, he's is in his preferred state of mind, frequently visiting the house to hang out with the crew, surf out front and painting freely, having left behind stress of timelines and due dates on the mainland. "I'm definitely happiest when I'm not depending on my art to sustain myself. I'm happiest when I'm creating just to create."

Volcom Welcomes Hailey Langland to Global Snow Team
Hailey Langland has been making a name for herself since she started snowboarding at age five. She exists in changing time zones, her passport stamped with groomer laps, take-offs and landings. She's got a front three that floats for days and radiates a style that's beyond her years. She grew up paddling into waves and pushing down streets in beachside San Clemente, CA. She first made turns at Bear Mountain and now calls Mammoth’s Main Park home, both proving grounds for sovereign snowboarders. She's fluid and explosive. She has a method that turns heads. It's the kind of kick-out that can't be learned. It's built-in from birth, harkening the past that's built for the future. We can't be more excited to welcome Hailey to the Volcom Family. She brings an impressive past, a promising future, and an unmatched personality which radiates passion and perseverance. While she joins us now, she has always been destined to the Stone. It was only a matter of time for the stars to align, and that time is now. Hailey Langland. Photo: Mike Pham // @phamuel "I'm psyched to be joining the Volcom Family! It's a dream come true to be part of a family that's much bigger than just snowboarding. I can't wait to see where this journey takes me." Hailey’s collection of heavy medals is already plush, though she’s truly just getting started. She landed a first-ever cab double ten in the 2017 X Games and earned her first Aspen gold. See? Just getting started. She’s logged time on podiums around the world. Slopestyle? Check. Big Air? Check. Three years in a row, she’s won the Drink Water Rat Race—a banked slalom where just getting to the bottom is a victory. And Hailey’s been the fastest. Three times. She’s the future of women’s slopestyle, yet her ease and authority with which she puts down tricks stretches far beyond contest boundaries. She’s the future of women’s snowboarding. Scratch that. She’s the future of snowboarding. Hailey wearing the Taylor Jacket (available in 3 colorways). Photo: Vernon Deck // @vernondeck Hailey's energy and style are pure Volcom. I’m super hyped on what she brings to the program. She's got full approval from the team. It's on!!!" -Remy Stratton, SVP Global Skate & Snow Hailey is serious about style and truly loves to ride. It's visible in every turn she makes, every slash, and every air she attempts. It's not fabricated. It's natural. Established at a very young age. At only seventeen, she's both a beacon to snowboarding's roots and a flare to the future, lighting up what's possible when talent, grit, and creativity are fused together. She says, "I cannot stress it enough how much style matters. We're all becoming robots out there, it's driving me freakin' nuts." Hailey on a recent trip in Saas'Fee, a resort village in the Swiss Alps. She has been True To This since she first stood sideways, but now, with the nourishment of the Stone, she can further feed her freedom of expression, and we are so stoked to welcome her to the family.
