Spitfire X Volcom Launch Party at the Vert Jungle

In celebration of the new Spitfire X Volcom collection we went out to our friend Rob Beaudoin's "Vert Jungle" in Pismo Beach, CA for a sesh on the ramp, BBQ with the bros and bands to keep the party going. We met up with our friends from Spitfire Wheels and Thrasher Magazine on a Friday and planned on camping on our friend Rob's property Friday and Saturday night. Day of the party the kids and vets got to the ramp early before most even woke up, but as soon as everyone made it out of their tents and to the ramp, it was on. Bad Shit and Ratt Black came out to play, but it was a little too loud for the neighbors. Everyone skated the ramp all day and the pig was roasted on the vert ramp. After the sesh most hung around, partied and camped before we headed out on Sunday. Check out some photos below from Joe Brook, Daniel Cabral and Chris Martinez and watch the recap video from Schmitty and P-Stone from Thrasher. You can also see more photos over on the Thrasher site. Big thanks to Rob and crew for making it all happen!

WELCOME HOME NOA DEANE
Noa Deane hears Mudhoney. He speaks his own tongue. He chooses tweaked-out throwaways over the same ol' end section air-revos. He hates when shit is cooked, loves when it’s fucken sick. Noa digs oversized tees and loose-fitting jeans, and bunny hops into rock slab pits. His Thrasher hat got stolen at a Goons of Doom gig. Did you steal it? Give it back. Nah, it’s cool, he got a new one for Christmas. Noa loves his mom and dad, loves playing his strat super loud in his bedroom all by himself, loves his mates… absolutely fucken loves them. He’s right into his girl, but he keeps that on the down-low because he wants to give her space, doesn’t want to smother her. He knows the value of lightness. Noa lives in a shed in Ozzie Wright’s backyard, he had photos of Oz on his wall as a grom. Had photos of Alien, of Barney, of Bruce. He wanted to ride for the Stone even then. Couldn’t say why, but could feel why. Freedom. Kin. Moxie. The Stone was fizzing with it. He knew one day it would happen, but first… the usual rounds: boardriders, grom bashings, Nationals, stickers, passports, surf trips, magazine covers, :), Tuff, busted ankles, Cheese II, Strange Rumblings, A.I. Breakthrough, “surfs like Dane, looks like Cobain,” Skegss, Cluster, …the WSL, Pulp, and Blister, until he suddenly arrived here, at this moment, right now. The start of the rest of his life… Noa is a good person. A person who can change people’s perceptions about surfing for the better just by being himself, saying what he thinks, surfing how he feels. He’s the antidote to surfing with a plan, a torch to the spreadsheets that turn riding oceans into a pile of stinking numbers. He’s got the DNA of every surfing miscreant and rabble-rouser and hot-blooded purist in his veins, and the delightful ignorance of youth on his side. He’s the living, breathing embodiment of the Stone. If Volcom had a baby, Noa Deane would be it. Welcome Home... Interview of Joan Duru - Qualification WT 2017
Congratulations goes out to Volcom's Joan Duru for qualifying for the prestigious 2017 World Surf League Tour! The 27 year old Frenchman's main goal this past year was to qualify for the World Tour, and he's done it! Ranking in at the #4 spot, just behind Frederico Morais, Ethan Ewing, and Connor O'Leary, Joan has earned his way to the big stage to compete with the world's best. Expect to see Joan dominating at big barreling spots like Fiji, Teahupoo, and Pipeline, while unleashing his explosive backhand at spots such as Snapper Rocks, Bells Beach, and Lower Trestles! Catch up with Joan and his road to qualification with this exclusive interview below. Joan Duru 2017 Qualification Interview   Do you have any passions or hobbies besides surfing? I like to go mountain biking with my friends or my dad. Tasty beef ribs, some wine with my buddies or spending time with my girlfriend. On the WQS (World Qualifying Series) Tour this year, you seemed calm and relaxed with good results following. Did you change something in the way you train? I didn’t make any changes for a long time, and it seems that it just started working. I’m 100% dedicated to my work with Mayhem, a board sponsor I’ve been working with for one year now. I always had magic boards, which allowed me to mainly focus on the rest. photo: Andrew Christie Is that what we used to call “maturity“ or “gaining experience“? It’s true that priority establishment totally changed my life on the WQS. Priorities make it easier because you can wait for the best wave without being afraid of someone who will get through to the inside at the last minute. The only thing to focus on is trying not to fall down! Tell us about your strong moments during the 2016 season. Starting with the second place at the Ballito Pro helped me a lot, as there were only a few prime events that year. And now, I’m glad, and more than happy that I made a semi final at Haleiwa despite the pressure of the qualification, but the good waves made it amazing! Joan blasting through a Haleiwa section on his way to a strong semi final finish. (photo: Jason Shibata) Working more on your physical and surf training this year definitely seemed to help you. Do you think it's imperative for surfers to train physically as well? I love sports, and I feel really bad if I’m not doing anything, thus training is not a chore, but a real pleasure! Moreover, Maud Le Car (girlfriend and Volcom surf team rider) and a group of young frenchy surfers such as Cloarec, Charly Quivront, and Bastien are lucky to have Charly Ducamp as a personal trainer, who is actually a great coach for me too. On the surf side, I’ve been working with Manu Portet for several years now. He was there to support me at all contests where I made my good results, so the training shows! How will you feel when you will officially be on the elite Championship Tour? Satisfied or pressured? "I feel really excited, but I’m aware of the very high level, so I will have to train harder physically, and technically, so that I can hope to face and beat the world's best surfers."   What are your ambitions on the Tour? To be qualified again for the CT in 2018 would be amazing. What’s your objective going into the 2017 season? To make quarters in the first contests. That would be an epic way to kick off the year. What are your plans to get ready for this new life ahead? I’ll spend winter in France to train hard, spend time with my girlfriend, my family, and my mates. I have to get ready for the upcoming year, because it’s going to be a long, tough year, with many contests. I’m lucky to have Maud by my side in Australia, and I really hope my family will be able to come over one or two contests to fully enjoy it. photo: Andrew Christie The Olympic Games. How do you feel about it? You’re still young and will obviously be a contender to be a member of the French team. Do you have an interest in that? Yes, it’s my dream, and I’ll work as hard as I can to make it happen! How are you going to celebrate this accomplishment? I think we’ll have to rent a room to gather all my friends and family to celebrate. Any last words? I want to thank all the people that supported me: my girlfriend, my family, my friends, and all my sponsors: Volcom, Vans, Mayhem, Creatures of Leisures, and Hercules, who never stopped believing in me for all these years. Let’s celebrate now!!!

elooa GIRLS CAMP BALANCE – Successful start for the girls!
Last weekend 20 motivated girls came to the Kitzsteinhorn for the elooa GIRLS BALANCE CAMP presented by VOLCOM. Also present were next to the elooa crew, a yoga teacher, a professional photographer as well as a filmmaker and the pro riders Mary Luggen & Ana Rumiha. After check-in the camp started with a yoga session into the weekend. Super motivated and well equipped with new Nitro Snowboards everbody went to the glacier on Saturday. After an extensive warm up and a few runs through the resort the girls practiced freestyle basics first before a perfectly shaped snowpark was waiting. Together with the coaches and the pro girls everybody practiced intensively all day and learned new tricks. In the afternoon we went back to our hotel, the Active by Leitner ́s 4* hotel that had all lot to offer: holiday galore! After coffee and cake a one hour yoga session with Anna Kathalina followed and before dinner everyone could recover in the spa area. After a very delicious and healthy dinner the day ended with an intense video coaching for all participants. On the final Sunday all campers went back to the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn to implement the new tips of the pros and elooa coaches directly. The weather was still kind of inconsistant but we had sunshine all day. After numerous runs and a lot of new tricks in the bag an eventful weekend came to an end. The elooa crew would like to thank all participants, the sponsors, the hotel Active by Leitner ́s and the Kitzsteinhorn for an amazing camp. We are looking forward to more elooa GIRLS CAMPS in 2017. We still have a couple of spots for our GIRLS SPLITBOARD and GIRLS BACKCOUNTRY FREERIDE CAMP available. Find more infos on www.elooa.com

# VolcomRepublique Celebration!
Last Saturday our boys Axel Cruysberghs and Victor Pellegrin cruised to Place de La Republique in Paris with a good portion of the scene, from the local kids to national heavy hitters such as Charles Collet, Joseph Garbaccio, Ben Garcia and more. The purpose was to celebrate the return of the Volcom granite skate setup in the heart of the French capital. The sun was shining - a perfect to start the afternoon which led to a fun and busy skate session in between the regular Republique weekend folks such as activists demonstrating about Cote–D’Ivoire new government (with a solid PA blasting african rhythms) or the "Nuit Debout" activists... A bunch of tricks got landed, high fives exchanged, and some giveaways were flown to the kids, and it was time to move to the Fluctuat Nec Mergitur cafe, right in the middle of the plaza for some after session beers, music and to announce the results of #VolcomRepublique best line skate contest. Tons of prizes got awarded to some of the many entrants and top 3 got to split the 1500€ prize purse of the contest. The judge panel consisting of David ‘Tura’ Turakiewicz (A Propos Magazine), Fred ‘D’ Demard (Soma skate medicine) and Christian Vankelst (Volcom Team manager) had a tough job picking the winners and in the end Joseph Garbaccio from Le Havre took the win (and the biggest check). Good times! Scott Blum's Weekend Essentials | Volcom Outerwear 2017
The weather forecasts are firing, your crew is blowing you up, and the weekend shred getaway is dialed in! Now the serious question: what are you going to pack?! Some of the biggest things that can make or break that perfect day of shredding is how you prepare for the conditions and a little knowledge into what to expect. As we all know, you aren’t going to last long nuking pow day showing up to the chairlift in just a hoodie, or getting stuck sweating it out in that heavy down jacket during warm spring conditions. Making good outerwear decisions is crucial! So, to help you out, we had a few of the Volcom Snow Team riders breakdown their favorite gear to wear during their hometown weekend shred sessions! "When planning a trip to Mammoth, CA in November, you can expect conditions to range from sunny and perfect to puking powder. My go-to outerwear set up is a hooded sweatshirt with a flannel or windbreaker, but I always keep a good warm / waterproof jacket close by for the cold mornings and surprise powder days."- Scott Blum   Shop Blum's Winter Weekend Essentials     Simons Insulated Flannel Jacket JLA Stone Zip Fleece Alternate Jacket Freakin Snow Chino Base RPET Crew Base Layer Pant Sweep Beanie Stay Dry Mitt   More Winter Weekend Essentials     Scott Blum Bryan Iguchi Pat Moore Arthur Longo Elena Hight Marcus Kleveland Shop All Snow Outerwear
