Volcom is proud to have been a partner in two workshops (screen printing and customization) for the kids as part of its support of the exhibition BX-LAX FARAWAY SO CLOSE.

On Wednesday the 18th of June, we organized a screen printing workshop, during which kids aged between 7 and 12 years old were able to create their first tee-shirt with a Volcom/BX-LAX logo - supervised by the artist Duch and the art department from Volcom.

Everyone left with a smile and a handmade t-shirt!

The kids created custom hats with visuals of their choice, as well as a 3D stone they were encouraged to customize with plenty of available mediums - painted, colored, glued, and more!

June 16th:

Last Friday the official opening of the exhibition "BX-LAX FARAWAY SO CLOSE" was set up in Bordeaux inside the amazing venue of "Espace Saint Remi".

Bordeaux, capital of the South West of France, is maybe one of the most enjoyable cities in France -especially in the spring season where you can hang out outside in the middle of old stone buildings enjoying a cold drink on a terrace.

BDX-LAX Faraway So Close aims to be the link between artists with common influences (graffiti, street art, underground Comics, freestyle) and a unique gathering point for a strong and alternative cultural scene, with multiple artistic scopes.

More than 10 artists from the USA and France were exhibiting at the artshow, and most of them were present on this Friday the 13th of June!

In addition to the exhibition, free drinks and free food guaranteed the success of the edition 2014 with tons of people visiting the expo.

Many thanks to the Art Department of Volcom for their work and to Carine, who managed a great event!

If you're living in Bordeaux - don't miss the exhibition - open to the public until July 13th; and on Wednesday June 18th, we will be conducting a silkscreening workshop at the venue with the artist Duch.

Euro Thrash Video: Volcom Surf's European Vacation
Our good friends at Wasted Talent put together a video of some of our riders: Noa Deane, Ryan Burch, Gony Zubizarreta, and more, thrashing their way through Portugal, Spain, and France during their summer '17 European vacation. From scoring one of the best days of surf they've ever seen at The Cave, to touring the local watering holes and taverns, to getting caught up in a weird presidental campaign in Paris, there was no shortage of amusement and European debauchery. It was a great trip that surely lived up to its name: Euro Thrash. The team riders, photographers, and crew, all became great friends by the end of the trip and ended on a promise to all return back soon. Euro Thrash 2.0?

This last summer some of the best skateboarding photographers in Europe were given 3 film rolls to shoot. The idea was to use them as they wanted and ship them back for this The Film Project initiative supported by Volcom. The result it´s been really exciting as it usually happens with analog photography. Forty pictures were selected and put together in this first exhibition which took place in Studio Store venue, located in the Borne neighborhood in Barcelona last October the 4th. Leuven Skate Contest
The Leuven Family gathered once again for Leuven Skate Contest. Every year they have a new theme, this time they went all the way with JOHNNY’S & MARINAS. There wasn’t just a costume contest, beers and bbq. No, there was some skateboarding also. You’ve never seen a bowl and street contest this friendly and fun. Simon Deprez took the win with the Volcom best trick contest. Everybody killed it but one guy stood out, he protected his hometown and his title as biggest Johnny of them all, so Jonathan Thijs took the win. And there is no better Johnny prize than a Scooter. Once again, big thanks to the Leuven Family, Twits Skateshop and Volcom. See y’all next year. Credit Photo : Joselito Verschaeve
